The Hornady XTP .38/.357 125 grain hollow point is a proven handgun bullet trusted by reloaders, hunters, and shooters who demand reliable expansion and deep penetration in a .38 or .357 revolver or semi-auto. Whether you're handloading for defensive carry, hunting, or target work, XTP bullets deliver the kind of consistent performance that's made them a staple on reloading benches for decades. This box contains 100 bullets ready to load.

XTP bullets are engineered from the ground up to expand reliably across a broad velocity window—even when fired from lower-powered .38 Special loads. The design centers on precision serrations that divide the bullet into symmetrical sections, weakening the jacket in a controlled manner so expansion happens predictably on impact. The gilding metal jacket is drawn (not plated) with varying thickness along its length, giving you expansion control that uniform-jacket bullets simply can't match. A swaged core ensures density uniformity for balanced, symmetrical expansion and in-flight stability shot after shot.

The cannelure crimping groove on each bullet lets you achieve accurate, consistent crimping in your .38 or .357 loads—applied before final forming to avoid distortion. The lack of exposed lead at the nose means the hollow cavity functions as designed and feeds reliably in semi-automatic pistols, making the XTP a versatile choice whether you're loading for a revolver or an auto.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pistols or revolvers can I load XTP bullets for?

The Hornady XTP .38/.357 125 grain is designed for both .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolvers, as well as semi-automatic pistols chambered in those calibers. The covered nose cavity and design features make them suitable for reliable feeding in semi-autos.

Will these bullets expand reliably in lower-velocity .38 Special loads?

Yes. The XTP is specifically engineered to expand reliably across a wide range of handgun velocities, including lower-power .38 Special loads, thanks to the controlled serration design that initiates expansion even at reduced velocities.

How many bullets come in each box?

Each box contains 100 Hornady XTP .38/.357 125 grain hollow point bullets, ready to reload into your preferred cartridge.

Is the cannelure necessary for all loads?

The cannelure is a crimping groove that helps ensure accurate and consistent crimping, particularly useful in revolver loads where you want a secure, uniform crimp. It's applied before final forming to prevent distortion.
