Winchester
The Winchester XPR Sporter in 7mm-08 Rem is a short-action rifle built for hunters and range shooters who demand accuracy without excess weight or bulk. At 6 lbs 12 oz with a 22-inch barrel, this rifle balances firepower and portability—ideal for deer, elk, and medium-game hunting where you're covering ground or shooting from unpredictable positions. Winchester engineered the XPR with precision components and a trigger system refined for repeatable performance, making it equally at home on a backcountry hunt or at the bench.
The heart of the XPR is Winchester's M.O.A. trigger, a three-lever design that eliminates take-up, creep, and overtravel—hallmarks of a crisp, predictable trigger break. Paired with a free-floated, button-rifled barrel that's thermally stress-relieved and precisely headspaced, the XPR delivers the accuracy you need for ethical, confident shots. The receiver is machined from solid steel bar stock and through-hardened during heat treatment, ensuring durability and consistent shot placement over time. A recessed target crown protects the muzzle from damage, preserving that accuracy downrange.
Handling and safety reflect Winchester's practical design philosophy. The two-position thumb safety includes a cocking indicator so you always know the rifle's status—critical in the field. The bolt unlock button lets you unload the chamber with the safety on, a genuine convenience feature when you need to clear the rifle quickly. Nickel Teflon coating on the bolt body means smoother cycling and better corrosion resistance, especially important if you hunt in wet or harsh conditions.
The stock is Grade I walnut with crisp checkering on the grip and fore-end, topped by a flattened fore-end that improves stability when shooting from bags or a bench. Winchester's Inflex technology recoil pad directs energy downward and away from your cheek, reducing the punishing effect of felt recoil—a genuine comfort gain on longer shooting sessions. A steel recoil lug inletted into the stock prevents receiver twist under recoil, the kind of engineering detail that matters for long-range consistency. The detachable polymer box magazine holds 3 rounds and is built to be reliable in the field, and the Perma-Cote matte black finish on all metal surfaces cuts glare and resists corrosion.

The 7mm-08 is a versatile mid-range cartridge suited to deer, elk, and other medium-sized game. It offers solid ballistics and energy with manageable recoil, making it a practical choice for hunters who value accuracy and the ability to make repeat shots if needed.
Yes. The free-floated barrel, M.O.A. trigger, and solid steel receiver are all designed for accuracy. The 22-inch barrel and 42-inch overall length make it manageable in the field while still delivering the ballistic performance the 7mm-08 is known for. Many shooters use this rifle for both hunting and range work.
The XPR Sporter comes as a rifle with a fully functional trigger, safety, and magazine. You will need to mount an optic (scope) and rings if you want to add one—the rifle itself does not come with a scope or rings.
The length of pull is 13 3/4 inches, which is a standard dimension for most adult shooters. If you have a particularly short or long arm length, you may want to try the rifle before purchasing or consider aftermarket adjustments.
