Winchester
The Winchester XPR Sporter in .243 Win is a versatile bolt-action rifle built for hunters and shooters who demand reliability without excessive weight or complexity. At just 6 lbs 12 oz, this short-action rifle handles well in the field while delivering the accuracy you need for varmint work, deer hunting, or target shooting. The .243 Winchester caliber offers mild recoil, fast bullet velocity, and proven performance across North America—especially popular with hunters who prefer a flatter trajectory and less flinch-inducing kick than larger magnum rounds.
Winchester engineered the XPR Sporter for genuine field use: a solid-steel receiver machined and hardened for durability, a free-floated barrel with recessed target crown to protect rifling, and a button-rifled bore built to tight tolerances. The trigger system is tuned to zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel—no mushy surprise when you break the shot. A polymer detachable box magazine keeps things simple and reliable, while the two-position thumb safety and cocking indicator let you know the gun's status instantly, whether you're glancing down or feeling it by touch in low light. The Grade I walnut stock features crisp checkering on the grip and fore-end for purchase, plus a flattened fore-end profile that nestles into sandbags or a bench for consistent shooting. Nickel-Teflon finish on the bolt means smooth cycling and corrosion resistance, while Perma-Coat matte black metal surfaces eliminate reflections that could spook game. Recoil management comes from an INFLEX pad that directs energy away from your cheek, and a steel recoil lug bedded into the stock keeps the receiver stable under hard use.
This is Winchester's answer to hunters and shooters who want a dependable, lightweight bolt gun that doesn't require custom gunsmithing or constant tinkering. At 42 inches overall with a 22-inch barrel and 13 3/4-inch length of pull, it's proportioned for standard adult shooters and carries naturally in the field.
