Tipton
The Tipton 40" Carbon Fiber Cleaning Rod for 27-45 Caliber Firearms is built from a material that solves the central problem with traditional barrel maintenance: how to scrub the bore clean without damaging the rifling. Carbon fiber won't scratch your barrel like stainless steel can, and unlike coated rods, it won't trap fine abrasive particles that turn your cleaning process into running sandpaper through your gun. This 40-inch rod fits standard rifles and larger-frame firearms in the 27–45 caliber range, making it a solid choice for centerfire hunters and shooters who want cleaning hardware that actually protects what they're cleaning.
The design reflects real-world use. Tipton engineered these rods with a handle that spins freely on dual ball-bearing sets, so the rod tracks the rifling smoothly whether you're pushing or pulling, even under pressure. That bearing system matters during long cleaning sessions—it reduces binding and lets you work efficiently without fighting the rod. The shank-through construction is another practical touch: it lets you apply controlled hammer strikes to drive a tight patch through a stubborn bore without worrying the rod will fail.
Carbon fiber's flex is another advantage often overlooked. The material can bend significantly without permanent deformation, then return to true straightness—useful for storage and transport, and a safeguard if the rod takes a hit. Military armorers and professional gunsmiths adopted carbon fiber rods for these exact reasons: durability, safety for the barrel, and reliability in harsh conditions. If you're serious about rifle maintenance and want a cleaning rod that won't compromise barrel integrity, this is the tool that earns its place in your kit.
| Length | 40 inches |
| Caliber Range | 27–45 Caliber |
| Material | Carbon Fiber |
| Handle Style | Ergonomic with dual ball bearings |
The Tipton 40" Carbon Fiber Rod is designed for firearms in the 27–45 caliber range, covering most standard centerfire rifles and larger-frame platforms.
Carbon fiber offers the advantages of both: it won't scratch your bore like stainless steel can, and unlike coated rods, it won't trap fine abrasive particles that could damage the rifling. It's scratch-resistant and won't embed foreign material into the bore.
Yes. The shank-through construction allows you to apply reasonable hammer blows to drive a tight patch through the bore, making it suitable for stubborn fouling or tight cleaning passes.
The ergonomic handle spins freely on dual ball-bearing sets, which reduces friction and binding during both pushing and pulling strokes, making longer cleaning sessions easier on your hands.
