Tipton
The Tipton 40-inch carbon fiber cleaning rod for .22–.26 caliber rifles is built for shooters who demand gear that protects their investment while delivering reliable performance in the field. Unlike stainless steel rods that can scratch rifling or coated alternatives that trap abrasive particles in your bore, carbon fiber offers the best of both: a shaft that won't damage your barrel and won't embed fine particles that accelerate wear. Whether you're maintaining a rimfire precision rig, a centerfire varmint gun, or anything in between in that caliber range, this rod is engineered to handle real-world cleaning without compromise.
What sets Tipton's approach apart is the thought behind the design. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, military armorers relied on Tipton carbon fiber rods to service rifles in punishing conditions—a real-world endorsement that speaks to durability and reliability. The rod features dual ball bearing sets that let the shaft rotate smoothly on your handle as you work, following the rifling naturally even when you're applying real pressure. The ergonomic handle stays fixed in your hand while the carbon fiber shaft spins, eliminating binding and making the job easier on both you and your bore. If you need extra leverage to push a tight patch through, the shank-through construction tolerates reasonable hammer blows without failure.
The 40-inch length covers most rifle cleaning scenarios, and the carbon fiber material flexes under stress without losing its straightness—it returns to factory spec every time. The rod accepts standard 8-32 threaded accessories, giving you flexibility to configure brushes, patches, and jags to match your cleaning routine. A hang hole makes storage simple, and the overall design reflects decades of experience solving real gunsmith and armorer problems.
