The Taurus Model 856 is a compact .38 Special revolver built for shooters who want a no-nonsense carry gun that doesn't sacrifice shootability. With a 2-inch barrel, snappy double-action/single-action trigger, and matte stainless finish, the 856 delivers the reliability of a classic revolver platform in a size that works for on-body carry, off-body carry, or bedside defense. The 6-round cylinder gives you respectable capacity in a gun that stays out of your way—exactly what matters when you're choosing between carrying something and leaving it at home.

The soft rubber grips are genuinely comfortable despite the compact frame, and the .38 Special cartridge is forgiving to shoot. Whether you're running light target loads at the range to keep costs down or loading defensive ammunition for protection, the 856 handles the full spectrum of .38 Special and .38 Special +P rounds. The transfer bar safety and fixed sights keep things simple and reliable—no electronic components to fail, no complicated manual safety to fumble in a crisis.

At 22 ounces and just over 6.5 inches overall, this is a gun that works in an ankle holster, a jacket pocket, or a waistband carry rig. The serrated ramp front sight and fixed rear sight are basic but functional, and the DA/SA action gives you that first-shot security of a heavy double-action trigger followed by lighter single-action shots for follow-ups. If you've been on the fence about wheelguns for daily carry or home defense, the 856's combination of capacity, manageable recoil, and straightforward design makes a genuine case for revolvers in a modern carry rotation.
