The Taurus 856 is a practical double-action/single-action revolver in .38 Special that strips away unnecessary complexity in favor of straightforward reliability and shootability. Built around a compact 2-inch barrel and weighing just 22 ounces, the 856 is purpose-built for shooters who want a no-frills wheelgun for personal protection, home defense, or backup carry. The 6-shot cylinder accepts .38 Special ammunition across the full spectrum—from light practice loads to duty-grade defensive rounds—giving you flexibility at the range and real-world stopping options when it matters.

The soft rubber grips absorb recoil cleanly, making the .38 Special's modest impulse even more manageable during extended range sessions or defensive training. That dual-action trigger system means you can fire fast follow-up shots in DA mode or take your time with precise SA breaks once you're on target. The matte black finish resists glare and fingerprints, keeping the gun low-profile and field-ready without the maintenance demands of a polished finish.

At 6.55 inches overall and with a slim 1.41-inch width, the 856 rides comfortably inside the waistband or slides into an off-body bag without printing. The serrated front ramp and fixed rear sight are functional—not fancy—letting you get hits quickly without fussing with adjustments. The transfer bar safety adds an extra layer of security you can trust. Whether you're seasoning a new shooter, maintaining a reliable home-defense option, or looking for a no-nonsense compact revolver that just works, the Taurus 856 delivers.
