Taurus
The Taurus 856 2" .38 Special revolver in matte stainless is a compact, versatile wheelgun built for shooters who want a reliable platform that works equally well for home defense, personal carry, or range sessions. This six-shot DA/SA (double-action/single-action) revolver strips away the unnecessary and focuses on what matters: a proven .38 Special chambering, genuine shootability, and a footprint that doesn't demand a tactical vest to carry. The 2-inch barrel makes this a genuinely pocketable option without sacrificing the kind of sight radius and control you'd expect from a quality defensive revolver.
The matte stainless finish resists corrosion and mirrors wear naturally—no glossy false promises here. The soft rubber grips provide a secure hold during double-action trigger work and manage recoil well enough that follow-up shots stay on target. The .38 Special round's reputation for manageable recoil is well-earned, and the 856 delivers it without flinching. Whether you're running lighter target loads at the range or stepping up to defensive ammunition, this revolver handles the spectrum without complaint. The transfer bar safety keeps things mechanically sound during holster carry or storage.
At 22 ounces and just over 6.5 inches long, the Taurus 856 occupies that sweet spot between "serious enough to trust" and "light enough to actually carry." Fixed sights (serrated ramp front and fixed rear) keep things simple and reliable—no batteries, no adjustments, no failure modes. This is the kind of gun that sits in a truck console, a nightstand drawer, or a carry holster without complaint, and when you need it, it works.

The DA/SA trigger allows you to fire in double-action mode (where pulling the trigger cocks and releases the hammer in one motion) for rapid first shots, then transition to lighter, crisper single-action shots (where the hammer is already cocked) for follow-up precision. This gives you flexibility in how you shoot.
