SIERRA BULLETS
Sierra MatchKing 7mm/.284 caliber rifle bullets are purpose-built for shooters who demand match-grade accuracy at the range or on the bench. Each box of 500 delivers the precision and ballistic consistency that have made MatchKing the go-to name in competitive and precision rifle shooting for decades. The 168-grain hollow-point boat-tail design minimizes drag and maximizes ballistic coefficient, translating to flatter trajectories and more predictable wind drift at distance.
These bullets are manufactured to exacting standards that separate them from everyday rifle ammunition components. Sierra holds jacket concentricity to within 0.0003 inches maximum variation and maintains weight tolerance of ±0.3 grain per round. That level of uniformity matters when you're chasing tight groups and record-setting velocities. The hollow-point cavity is precisely engineered with a small meplat to optimize ballistic performance without compromising the structural integrity you need for consistent cycling and accuracy.
The boat-tail geometry is a hallmark of the MatchKing line, reducing turbulence behind the bullet for improved downrange stability and ballistic coefficient. Whether you're loading for a precision rifle match, developing handloads for a benchrest competition, or fine-tuning your long-range hunting rifle at the range, these 7mm bullets reward attention to detail with accuracy you can measure and verify. They're not recommended for hunting applications, but for paper and steel, they're the real deal.
| Caliber | 7mm/.284 |
| Bullet Diameter | .284" |
| Weight | 168 grains |
| Style | Hollow-point boat-tail (HPBT) |
| Count per Box | 500 |
| Jacket Concentricity Tolerance | 0.0003" maximum variation |
| Weight Tolerance | ±0.3 grain |
MatchKing bullets are engineered for accuracy in target shooting, precision rifle competitions, and handload development. They are not recommended for hunting applications.
The manufacturing tolerances are significantly tighter. Jacket concentricity is held to 0.0003" and weight to ±0.3 grain—consistency at that level requires precision machinery and quality control that standard bullets don't employ.
A boat-tail bullet has a tapered, streamlined rear end that reduces aerodynamic drag compared to a flat base. This improves ballistic coefficient and helps the bullet maintain velocity and stability over distance, especially important for long-range shooting.
These bullets are .284" diameter and suitable for any 7mm rifle that uses .284" bullets, including 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm-08, 280 Ackley, and similar cartridges. Always verify compatibility with your specific rifle and consult your reloading manual for load data.
