RCBS
The RCBS Safari Die 3-Die Roll Crimp Set for .500 Nitro is built for reloaders tackling some of the largest and most demanding rifle cartridges in the world. This is the die set for handloaders serious about big-bore, dangerous-game rifles where precision and reliability aren't optional. The three-die configuration handles the full reloading cycle: sizing and de-priming, expanding the case mouth for bullet feeding, and seating the projectile with a roll crimp that locks it in place.
The Safari series is engineered specifically for straight-wall cartridges like the .500 Nitro—the kind of ammunition you'd trust for African dangerous game or other situations where your rifle absolutely has to perform. Because these are large-capacity cartridges, proper case preparation is critical, and this die set guides you through each step. Cases will need to be lubricated during sizing, a standard practice with bigger brass. The expander die not only opens the case to accept your bullet but creates the slight bell at the case mouth that ensures smooth feeding and bullet seating.
Note that some applications—like the .500 Jeffery and .505 Gibbs—use 1-inch die bodies that may require a press adapter bushing (sold separately). If you're running one of these cartridges on a Rock Chucker Supreme, that press comes with a standard 1-1/4-inch to 7/8-inch adapter bushing, so you're covered. For other press models or other big-bore loads, check your equipment specs before ordering.
| Caliber | .500 Nitro |
| Die Count | 3 |
| Type | Roll Crimp Set |

| Case Preparation | Cases require lubrication |
Not always. Standard 1-1/4-inch die bodies fit most modern presses directly. However, the .500 Jeffery and .505 Gibbs versions use 1-inch die bodies and do require a press adapter bushing (not included). If you're using a Rock Chucker Supreme, it comes standard with a 1-1/4-inch to 7/8-inch adapter bushing.
The set includes a sizer die that also de-primes, an expander die that creates case mouth flare for bullet feeding, and a seater die that seats the bullet and applies the roll crimp.
Yes, cases must be lubricated during the sizing process. This is standard practice with large-capacity rifle cartridges like the .500 Nitro.
