RCBS
The RCBS 3 Die Roll Crimp Set for .405 Winchester is purpose-built for handloaders working with this classic black powder cartridge. Whether you're shooting an original period rifle or a modern reproduction, this three-die set handles the full reloading cycle for straight-wall cases with the precision and reliability RCBS is known for. The roll crimp finish ensures reliable bullet retention in a cartridge designed over a century ago—and still respected by hunters and shooters today.
Loading black powder cartridges requires attention to detail, and this die set is engineered around those needs. The Sizer Die handles initial case sizing and de-priming in one stroke (cases will need lubrication before sizing). The Expander Die then opens the case mouth to the correct diameter, simultaneously imparting the slight bell or flare necessary for smooth bullet seating and feeding in original or reproduction actions. Finally, the Seater Die seats your bullet and applies a roll crimp that locks it in place—essential for straight-wall cartridges where a conventional taper crimp isn't practical.
If you're building ammunition for .405 Winchester hunting or target work, this is the die set engineered specifically for your cartridge. RCBS has decades of experience with legacy calibers, and it shows in thoughtful design details like the roll crimp function built into the seater die.
