The PTR GI 100 .308 rifle in 18-inch configuration represents a no-nonsense approach to modern sporting rifle design. Built on the proven H&K platform legacy, this .308 Winchester semi-automatic rifle combines cold-war reliability with practical, compact handling. The fixed magazine and welded muzzle compensator make it California-compliant out of the box—a significant advantage if you're in a regulated state and want a serious rifle without the paperwork headache of a separate legal opinion.
What sets this rifle apart is the attention to detail in its components. The OD green furniture gives it a purposeful, no-frills aesthetic that works equally well on the range or in the field. The parkerized finish is a time-tested rust-resistant coating that ages gracefully and requires minimal maintenance compared to modern finishes. The H&K Navy-type polymer trigger group is a carry-forward from legendary mil-spec designs, delivering predictable, reliable performance without unnecessary complexity.
At 18 inches, this rifle strikes a practical balance—short enough to handle in tight spaces and from vehicles, yet long enough to preserve the ballistic performance .308 Winchester is known for. The 10-round magazine capacity meets California legal requirements while still providing adequate capacity for hunting or defensive use. This isn't a rifle designed to look cool; it's built to work, which is exactly what serious shooters need.

Yes. The PTR GI 100 comes from the factory with a fixed magazine and welded muzzle compensator, meeting California's legal requirements for centerfire semi-automatic rifles without requiring additional compliance modifications or separate legal opinions.
The 18-inch barrel is optimized for practical field distances typical of hunting and defensive applications. .308 Winchester remains effective well beyond 300 yards in trained hands, though the shorter barrel does trade some velocity compared to longer barrels.
This rifle features a fixed magazine design, which means the magazine is permanently attached to the rifle. It's not user-replaceable, which is part of what makes it California-compliant.
Parkerizing is a chemical rust-resistance coating applied directly to steel that's been used on military and duty firearms for decades. It provides excellent corrosion protection and a matte finish that doesn't show wear as obviously as some modern coatings, making it practical for working rifles.
