Building a custom .243 Winchester rifle? The PROOF BBL CF bolt action rifle barrel in .243 Win with a 16.5" Sendero contour and 1:7.5 twist delivers precision engineering in a lightweight carbon fiber package. This barrel is built for shooters who demand accuracy without excess weight—whether you're fine-tuning a long-range hunting rig, assembling a competition build, or crafting a mountain rifle where every ounce counts. The carbon fiber construction keeps things nimble while maintaining the rigidity needed for consistent shot placement.
The 16.5" length strikes a practical balance: short enough to handle in tight spaces and through vehicle windows during hunting season, yet long enough to wring solid velocity from .243 ammunition and maintain sight radius for optics. The 1:7.5 twist rate handles modern .243 projectiles across a wide weight range, making this barrel flexible for both varmint rounds and heavier hunting loads. The Sendero contour—a tapered profile—helps minimize weight while keeping the barrel rigid enough for precision shooting.
Whether you're an experienced gunsmith, a custom rifle builder, or a serious hunter ready to put together exactly what you want, this carbon fiber barrel gives you a quality foundation. PROOF Barrels has earned respect in the precision shooting community for consistent quality and accuracy. Pair this with the right action, chassis, and optics, and you're looking at a rifle tailored to your exact needs.
| Caliber | .243 Winchester |
| Barrel Length | 16.5" |
| Twist Rate | 1:7.5 |
| Contour | Sendero |
| Breech Length | 2.5" |
| Shank Diameter | 1.20" |
| Weight | 2 lbs 8 oz |
| Material | Carbon Fiber |
| Action Type | Bolt Action |
The PROOF barrel features a 1:7.5 twist rate, which stabilizes a broad spectrum of .243 Winchester projectiles from lighter varmint rounds through heavier hunting ammunition.
The barrel weighs 2 lbs 8 oz, making it an excellent choice for builds where weight matters—hunting rifles, mountain setups, and portable tactical configurations.
Yes. This is a raw barrel component for bolt action rifle assembly. You'll need compatible action, stock or chassis, trigger, magazines, and optics to complete a finished rifle. Work with a qualified gunsmith if you're not experienced in barrel fitting and headspacing.
The Sendero is a tapered profile that reduces overall barrel weight compared to heavier contours while maintaining sufficient stiffness for accurate shooting—a classic choice for precision hunting rifles.
