The Otis FGRC243 Ripcord is a dedicated bore cleaner engineered for 6mm/.243 caliber rifles that delivers serious cleaning power in a package you can take anywhere. Unlike traditional rod-and-patch methods that rely on gravity and multiple passes, the Ripcord uses a rigid, helix-shaped rubberized core that maintains aggressive contact with the bore and rifling as you pull it through—one pass does real work. The 36-inch length gives you plenty to work with from the bench or in the field, and the braided Nomex cleaning surface wraps the core to handle the heat. This matters: you can run it through a hot barrel right after shooting without waiting for the gun to cool, making it genuinely useful for range sessions and hunting trips where you want a quick, effective clean without breaking down your entire setup.
The 5-40" thread standard lets you attach compatible bore brushes for even more thorough cleaning when you want it, but the Ripcord alone handles the job most shooters need done. Nomex holds up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit, so heat isn't a limiting factor. At 36 inches and ultra-portable, it's the kind of tool that lives in your range bag or truck without taking up real estate, and it actually gets used because setup is faster than traditional cleaning rods.
If you shoot .243 Winchester or 6mm Remington and want a one-pass cleaner that works hot or cold, the Ripcord cuts through the usual bore-cleaning tedium. It's built by Otis Technology, a name trusted in firearms maintenance, and engineered to be fast enough that you'll actually use it between strings.
