Limbsaver
The Limbsaver Nitro Grind-to-Fit Recoil Pad is a 1.5-inch thick rubber pad designed to absorb punishment from hard-recoiling rifles. Built for shooters who run magnum calibers, develop flinch easily, or simply want to shoot more comfortably without shoulder fatigue, the Nitro delivers measurable recoil reduction so you can focus on accuracy instead of managing kick. The real advantage here is the grind-to-fit system: you get a pad sized for medium length-of-pull that you can carefully shape to match your specific stock contours, ensuring perfect contact and consistent performance.
Recoil management matters more than many shooters realize. When your shoulder absorbs repeated heavy blows, even small impacts accumulate into flinch and anticipation. The Nitro's extra-thick construction and engineered rubber compound work together to absorb and disperse that energy. Whether you're running a .300 Win Mag over a weekend hunt, working through a long session at the rifle range, or training with a caliber that's genuinely punishing, a quality recoil pad transforms the shooting experience from something you endure into something you can sustain and shoot accurately.
The grind-to-fit approach gives you control over the final fit. The pad ships at 5 3/32" × 1 13/16" and can be trimmed to a minimum of 4 1/4" × 1 5/16" using basic tools. This flexibility means you can dial in perfect contact with your stock's comb and toe, eliminating gaps that waste recoil reduction. It's a straightforward retrofit for most rifle stocks—no gunsmithing required, just careful measurement and a steady hand with a grinding tool.
If you shoot magnum rifles, are sensitive to recoil, or simply want to extend your comfortable shooting time, the Limbsaver Nitro is a practical and durable upgrade that pays dividends in confidence and consistency.
| Thickness | 1.5 inches |
| Material | Rubber |
| Color | Black |
| Size Category | Medium (1.5" LOP) |
| Unmodified Dimensions | 5 3/32" × 1 13/16" |
| Trimmable to Minimum | 4 1/4" × 1 5/16" |
The Nitro is grind-to-fit, meaning it can be trimmed to match medium-length-of-pull stocks. It ships at 5 3/32" × 1 13/16" and can be shaped down to 4 1/4" × 1 5/16" to fit your specific rifle's stock. Success depends on your stock profile and careful fitting, so measure before you trim.
The Nitro is engineered to reduce up to 80 percent of felt recoil. Actual results depend on caliber, rifle weight, stock fit, and shooting form, but the 1.5-inch thickness provides substantial cushioning for magnum and heavy-kicking rounds.
You'll need a way to carefully grind or shape the rubber to match your stock contours. A belt sander or rotary tool with patience works well. We recommend measuring twice and trimming gradually to get a proper fit.
The Nitro is designed for both. It's excellent for shooters who run safari-grade calibers and need the absorption, and equally valuable for shooters with lower recoil tolerance who want to shoot more comfortably for longer sessions, regardless of caliber.
