Lee Precisiom
The Lee 90827 Factory Crimp Rifle Die for 7.62x39mm Russian is a specialized reloading die designed to deliver consistent, reliable crimping that tightens accuracy and pressure consistency shot after shot. If you're loading Soviet-caliber rounds for your AK, Mosin, or other 7.62x39 platform, a proper factory crimp is one of the most underrated steps separating mediocre loads from ones that group tight. Unlike standard seating dies, the factory crimp die applies uniform squeeze to the case mouth, holding the bullet firmly in place and ensuring that pressure builds steadily and predictably in the chamber.
The die features a collet mechanism that grips the case mouth and forces it into the bullet's crimp groove—or even into bullets without a crimp groove, which is a real advantage if you're working with mixed brass or commercial ammunition components. The firmness of that crimp matters: it raises the threshold pressure before the bullet shifts, which stabilizes your pressure curve and cuts down on velocity variation from round to round. Tighter velocity spreads mean tighter groups and more reliable performance downrange, whether you're fine-tuning handloads for precision rifle work or just looking to improve consistency on your high-volume range loads.
This die threads into any reloading press that accepts standard 7/8"-14 dies—that's the vast majority of single-stage and progressive presses in use today. It's a straightforward addition to your 7.62x39 reloading setup. Keep in mind that a shellholder is sold separately; make sure you have the correct one for your press.
| Product | Lee Factory Crimp Rifle Die |

Yes, as long as your press accepts standard 7/8"-14 dies—which covers the vast majority of modern reloading presses including Lee, RCBS, Hornady, and others. Check your press manual to confirm thread size if you're unsure.
No. The factory crimp die is designed to work on bullets with or without a crimp groove. If your bullets don't have a groove, the collet will still apply a firm crimp that improves pressure consistency.
The die itself is included. You'll need to purchase a shellholder separately if you don't already have one for your press and caliber.
A firm crimp raises the pressure threshold before the bullet moves in the case, which creates a more uniform pressure curve and reduces velocity variation from shot to shot. More consistent pressure and velocity lead to tighter groups downrange.
