Lee Precisiom
The Lee Factory Crimp Rifle Die for .223 Remington is a specialized tool designed to deliver the firm, consistent crimp that separates accurate reloads from mediocre ones. Unlike standard sizing dies that merely resize the case, this crimp die clamps the bullet securely into the case mouth using a collet mechanism, preventing the kind of bullet creep and pressure variation that degrades accuracy downrange. Whether you're loading match rounds for precision rifle work or hunting ammunition that needs to perform, a proper crimp is the detail that ensures your handloads shoot to their potential.
The collet design squeezes the case mouth into the bullet's crimp groove with authority—and here's the thing: testing has shown that even bullets without a crimp groove will shoot more accurately once crimped by this die. Why? A firm crimp raises the pressure threshold required before the bullet moves in the case, which means your pressure curve stays more uniform and your velocity stays more consistent round to round. That consistency is everything in reloading, whether you're chasing tight groups at the range or building loads you can trust in the field.
Built to fit any 7/8"-14 press (the standard for most single-stage and progressive loaders), this die threads in like any other and follows your normal reloading sequence. Keep in mind that a shellholder is sold separately—you'll need the correct one for your .223 Remington cases. For reloaders serious about accuracy, the Factory Crimp Die is one of those unglamorous upgrades that pays dividends in real-world performance.

Yes. Testing has confirmed that the Lee Factory Crimp Die will improve accuracy even on non-groove bullets by clamping them firmly in the case mouth, which promotes uniform pressure and velocity consistency.
The crimp die is typically the final step in your reloading process, after bullet seating. Follow your press manual or Lee's reloading manual for detailed setup and operation instructions.
