KEL-TEC
The Kel-Tec RDB is a semi-automatic bullpup rifle in 5.56 NATO that solves one of the biggest ergonomic headaches shooters face with compact rifles: reliable, consistent case ejection. Unlike traditional bullpup designs that either limit you to single-sided ejection or overcomplicate the system, the RDB uses a downward-ejection design that pulls spent cases backward along the top of the magazine and channels them through a vertical chute. The result is a compact, 27.4-inch overall length rifle that weighs just 7 pounds and ejects reliably without the complexity or ambidextrous compromises of other designs.
Built around a steel receiver and barrel assembly, the RDB uses a short-stroke, gas-operated piston system that you can adjust to run reliably across different ammunition types and muzzle attachments. The rotary bolt and spring-loaded ejector work together with gravity assistance, which means cleaner feeding, more consistent bolt energy, and a naturally slower cyclic rate compared to traditional piston designs. The distinctive U-shaped hammer runs outside the ejection chute and above the magazine, keeping the action running smoothly without interference. While the bolt travel is longer than you'll find in conventional rifles, it stays within comfortable ergonomic limits and contributes to the whole system's reliability and efficiency.
If you're looking for a compact 5.56 rifle for home defense, close-quarters range work, or situations where a shorter platform matters, the RDB delivers genuine innovation in a package that doesn't sacrifice shooter ergonomics or reliability for its size. This is a rifle that thinks differently about how a bullpup should work.
| Caliber | 5.56 NATO |
| Barrel Length | 17.4 inches |
| Overall Length | 27.4 inches |
| Weight | 7 pounds |
| Action | Semi-Automatic |
| Finish | Black |
The RDB ejects downward through a vertical chute rather than to the side or forward. Spent cases are pulled backward along the top of the magazine and gravity-assisted through the ejection path, eliminating the ambidextrous limitations of side-ejection designs and the mechanical complexity of forward-ejection systems.
Yes. The short-stroke gas piston is fully adjustable, allowing you to tune the rifle to run reliably with different ammunition types and various muzzle attachments.
At 27.4 inches overall length and weighing 7 pounds, the RDB is a compact, maneuverable platform in 5.56 NATO. The specific purpose and legality of any firearm use depends on your local laws and circumstances.
