KEL-TEC
The Kel-Tec RDB 5.56x45mm bullpup rifle redefines what a modern compact rifle can do. Built for shooters who want genuine ambidextrous handling without the traditional bullpup compromises, the RDB uses a downward shell ejection system that clears brass and gas away from your sight line—whether you're shooting right- or left-handed. At 27.3 inches overall with a 17.3-inch barrel, it delivers a serious compact footprint for tactical training, home defense, or field work without sacrificing sight radius or ergonomics.
The RDB's real innovation is in the details. That downward ejection eliminates the common bullpup problem of hot brass and propellant gases venting across your face or optics. The rifle is also adjustable to handle a wide range of ammunition variations, making it forgiving if your ammo selection shifts. Its 1:7 twist rate is factory-tuned for 5.56x45mm, and it accepts standard AR15-pattern magazines—giving you genuine flexibility in the field without exotic proprietary hardware. The short, smooth 4.5 to 5.5-pound trigger breaks cleanly, and the overall design makes the RDB an exceptionally capable suppressor host for those running cans.
At 6.7 pounds unloaded, the Kel-Tec RDB delivers serious firepower in a form factor that doesn't ask you to compromise on control or comfort. Tan finish adds durability and blends into varied terrain. Whether you're building a compact duty rifle, a suppressed home defense platform, or a training gun that doesn't sacrifice velocity, the RDB earns respect as a genuinely thought-through bullpup design.
| Caliber | .223 Rem / 5.56x45mm NATO |
| Barrel Length | 17.3 inches |
| Overall Length | 27.3 inches |
| Weight (Unloaded) | 6.7 lbs |
| Twist Rate | 1:7 |
| Trigger Pull | 4.5–5.5 lbs |
| Magazine Capacity | 20 rounds (or any AR15-compatible magazine) |
| Ejection | Downward |
| Finish | Tan |
| Ammunition Compatibility | Adjustable for wide variety of 5.56x45mm loads |
Yes. The RDB accepts standard AR15-compatible magazines, including 20-round options. This gives you access to the broadest aftermarket magazine ecosystem and simplifies logistics if you already run AR platforms.
The downward ejection system makes it genuinely comfortable for both right- and left-handed shooters. Unlike traditional bullpups that spray brass and gas across the shooter's face from a side-mounted port, the RDB clears everything away from your sight line and face regardless of shoulder. Controls like the safety and charging may still favor right-hand operation; verify with the manual for exact controls.
The RDB is engineered to reliably cycle and feed a wide range of 5.56x45mm ammunition—different manufacturers, weights, and loads—without the finicky behavior some rifles exhibit. This flexibility is valuable if your ammo supply varies or if you shoot both light target rounds and heavier duty ammunition.
Yes. The short 17.3-inch barrel and gas system design make it an excellent platform for running a suppressor. The compact form factor doesn't grow significantly with a can, and the downward ejection keeps gas away from your optics and face—a real advantage in suppressed fire.
