Hornady
The Hornady Match Grade 7mm Rem Saum die set (item 545142) is built for reloaders who want repeatable, tight ammunition. Unlike standard dies that rely on fixed neck sizing, Match Grade dies let you control neck tension precisely through interchangeable self-centering bushings. This approach prevents over-sizing case necks and reduces brass work-hardening, helping your ammunition stay consistent shot after shot.
The .284 caliber set comes configured for shoulder-bump neck sizing, a method favored by precision shooters and hunters who want to load for the 7mm Rem Saum without full-length sizing on every round. The interchangeable bushings mean you can dial in the exact neck tension your loads and rifle prefer—something fixed dies simply can't do. Tighter ammunition control at the press translates directly to tighter groups downrange.
New for 2025, the Click-Adjust Micrometer comes factory-installed on the bullet seating die, giving you fine-tuned adjustment capability out of the box. No hunting for aftermarket upgrades; it's ready to go. The micrometer design lets you make micro-adjustments to seating depth with confidence and repeatability, critical for handloaders chasing accuracy.
| Caliber | 7mm Rem Saum (.284) |
| Die Type | Shoulder-bump neck sizing |
| Seating Die Feature | Click-Adjust Micrometer (factory-installed) |
| Neck Sizing | Interchangeable bushings included |
| Hornady Item Number | 545142 |
Match Grade dies use interchangeable neck bushings to size only the neck, which prevents over-working the brass and gives you control over how tight the neck grips the bullet. Standard full-length dies resize the entire case, which can create unnecessary stress and inconsistency. For handloaders prioritizing precision, neck sizing with bushings produces more uniform ammunition.
The set includes interchangeable bushings. You select the specific bushing diameter that matches your cartridge and reloading goals. Hornady makes different bushing sizes available if you need to fine-tune neck tension further.
Yes. As of 2025, the Click-Adjust Bullet Seating Micrometer comes factory-installed on all Match Grade seating dies, including this 7mm Rem Saum set. You don't need to purchase it separately.
This set is sized specifically for 7mm Rem Saum (.284). It is not compatible with 7mm Rem Mag. Confirm your cartridge before purchasing.
