Hornady
The Hornady Match Grade Horn 545139 Die Set for .280 Ackley Improved is purpose-built for reloaders who demand precision and consistency. If you're pushing handloads to tighter tolerances—whether for long-range hunting, PRS competition, or precision rifle work—this die set gives you the control to optimize neck tension and case preparation that translates directly to smaller groups downrange. Match Grade dies take the guesswork out of the resizing process and let you dial in exactly the neck fit your ammunition needs.
The core advantage here is the interchangeable self-centering neck size bushings. Rather than forcing your case neck through a fixed-size opening that risks overworking brass and inducing runout, you select the bushing that matches your specific cartridge and requirements. This approach preserves case life and keeps run-out minimal—both critical for match-grade handloads. The die set handles the .280 Ackley Improved cartridge, giving you the specialized sizing geometry this popular wildcat demands.
Hornady's Click-Adjust Micrometer comes factory-installed on the seating die, giving you repeatable, indexed bullet seating depth adjustments without the fumbling of traditional micrometer adjustment. That means faster setup, more consistent seating depth from round to round, and less hassle between load development sessions. Whether you're working up a hunting load or fine-tuning a competition load, the feedback is immediate and precise.

The self-centering neck bushings eliminate over-sizing by allowing you to choose the exact fit for your brass. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, you match the bushing to your cartridge, which minimizes runout, reduces case neck work-hardening, and extends brass life. Tighter case preparation leads to more consistent velocities and tighter shot groups.
These are Match Grade dies designed for reloaders pursuing tight tolerances and consistent results. If you're just starting out, standard dies may be more straightforward, but if you're ready to invest in precision handloading for hunting or competition, this system rewards the attention to detail it demands.
The Click-Adjust Micrometer is designed for fast, repeatable adjustments. It comes factory-installed on the seating die, so you're ready to begin load development without additional setup. The indexed clicks give you precise depth control with straightforward operation.
