Federal Premium HammerDown 45-70 Government 300 grain bonded soft point ammo is built from the ground up for lever-action rifles—and it shows. Whether you're running a Henry, Marlin, or Winchester, HammerDown rounds cycle reliably through tubular magazines and side-gate loading systems without the feed failures or jams that plague generic rifle ammo in lever guns. The 300-grain bonded soft point bullet is engineered to deliver consistent expansion and weight retention at the velocities that lever-action barrels produce, giving you predictable terminal performance on whitetail, elk, and other big game at hunting ranges.

The real difference lies in the details. HammerDown cases feature modified chamfering for smoother feeding, and the ballistic profile is optimized specifically for the velocity envelope of lever-gun platforms. Nickel-plated cases resist corrosion and cycle smoothly, cycle after cycle. At 1850 feet per second, you're getting solid knock-down power paired with the inherent accuracy advantage of a lever gun's ergonomics and handling. This is ammunition designed by shooters who understand that one-size-fits-all centerfire rifle ammo doesn't cut it in a 45-70—and it shows in how reliably these rounds perform.

Federal Premium HammerDown is the answer for hunters and shooters who refuse to compromise with their lever gun. You get ammunition that respects the platform, cycles flawlessly, and delivers the terminal performance your hunt demands. Load a magazine with confidence.
