EGW
The EGW .223 Remington 7-Hole Cartridge Checker is a precision measuring tool designed to catch out-of-spec ammunition before it reaches your rifle's chamber. Whether you're working with factory loads or your own reloads, this checker lets you verify that your .223 rounds meet specification—helping you avoid the feeding problems, jams, and misfires that come from ammunition that doesn't fit your chamber. It's a simple but essential quality-control step for serious reloaders and shooters who demand consistency.
Built from solid 6061 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished in anodized matte black, this tool uses actual Clymer reamers to match your chamber's true dimensions. The 7-hole design allows you to check multiple rounds quickly, and the gauge measures both minimum case diameter and maximum overall length—the two critical dimensions that determine whether a round will chamber safely and feed reliably.
This is a go/no-go verification tool, not a replacement for proper reloading practices or full case inspection, but it gives you confidence that your ammunition is within spec before you fire it. If you reload .223 or shoot a lot of factory ammo, a cartridge checker is one of the cheapest insurance policies you can buy.
| Caliber | .223 Remington |
| Material | 6061 T6 Aircraft-Grade Aluminum |
| Holes | 7 |
| Finish | Anodized Matte Black |
| Reamer Type | Clymer |
| Measurements | Case diameter and overall length |
Yes. Use it to verify any .223 ammunition—factory loads or your own reloads—before shooting to confirm they meet chamber specification.
The checker has seven holes machined to precise chamber dimensions. You insert rounds into the holes; if they fit without forcing, they're within spec. If they jam or bind, the round is out of spec and should not be fired.
The EGW checker measures both minimum case diameter and maximum overall length—the two critical dimensions that determine proper chambering and feeding in your rifle.
No. A cartridge checker is a quick go/no-go verification tool for chamber fit. It should be part of your quality-control routine alongside proper reloading practices and case inspection, not a substitute for them.
