The Rock Island Armory GI Standard is a compact 1911A1 pistol that brings authentic M1911 heritage into a package sized for concealed carry and everyday reliability. Chambered in 45 ACP with a 3.5-inch barrel, this 7-round single-stack delivers the stopping power shooters expect from the classic cartridge while staying slim and manageable for quick-draw holster work. Built on Rock Island's proven engineering, the GI Standard honors the design that served in combat for generations—no fancy features, no unnecessary complexity, just a proven fighting pistol.

The gun wears a durable parkerized finish on both slide and frame, giving it that period-correct, no-nonsense military aesthetic. Fixed low-profile sights keep the profile clean and snag-free. The smooth wood grips are classic 1911 issue feel, and the factory trigger breaks crisp at 4 to 6 pounds—tight enough for accurate shooting straight from the box, without the grit of an untuned action. At just over 2 pounds unloaded, this compact 1911 won't weigh down your waistband or pack, making it a serious option for everyday carry, truck gun duty, or range time when you want traditional single-action performance in a smaller package.

Rock Island Armory has built a reputation delivering 1911s that shoot above their price point, and the GI Standard keeps that promise. If you're looking for a genuine, no-frills 45 ACP without the bulk of a Government-length frame, or you already trust the 1911 platform and want something compact and proven, this is a gun that does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Rock Island Armory GI Standard suitable for concealed carry?

Yes. The 3.5-inch barrel and 2.16-pound unloaded weight make this compact 1911 practical for everyday carry. The slim single-stack profile and fixed low-profile sights keep it snag-free for quick-draw holster use.

What comes in the box with this pistol?

The product record provided does not specify included accessories or ammunition. Contact us for details on what ships with your GI Standard.

How does the 3.5-inch barrel compare to a full-size 1911?

The shorter barrel reduces overall length to 7.25 inches (vs. around 8.6 inches on a Government model), making the gun easier to conceal and carry. You still get the full kinetic benefit of 45 ACP, with a crisp 4- to 6-pound factory trigger ready to shoot accurately out of the box.

What is the parkerized finish and why does it matter?

Parkerizing is a durable, non-reflective metal finish applied to both slide and frame. It's battle-proven, resists corrosion, and gives the GI Standard that authentic military appearance—no fancy coatings, just tough, functional protection.
