Texas Weapon Systems
The Texas Weapon Systems AKM Gen-3 Dog Leg Scope Rail and Handguard Bundle brings modern optics mounting and ergonomic handling to your AKM rifle without the fuss of piecing together separate components. This integrated system pairs a patented dog leg scope rail with a purpose-built handguard, both engineered to work together seamlessly. If you're running a standard AKM stamped receiver and want a solid platform for red dots, magnified scopes, night vision, or thermal devices, this bundle delivers the kind of reliability and balance that matters downrange.
The Gen-3 Dog Leg scope rail mounts directly over the receiver with an integral dust cover to shield your optics from barrel heat—a genuine advantage during sustained fire or hot-weather shooting. The forward hinged, quick-release cover with rear cam lock design lets you preserve the AK's traditional field-stripping capability while keeping your rail clean and protected. Because the rail clears the receiver with a dog leg geometry, you can run longer scopes without fussing with quick detach mounts, and the positioning optimizes weight distribution. Texas Weapon Systems engineered this as a rock-solid, no-play mount designed for accuracy.
The Gen-3 Handguard completes the system with a co-planar top rail that keeps all your mounted accessories in proper alignment. M-LOK compatibility adds modularity for lights, slings, or other tactical gear. The semi-floated design minimizes barrel contact and disturbance, while generous ventilation holes support rapid cooling and save weight—valuable when you're carrying your rifle for hours. Critical AK functionality is retained: you can still install and use the cleaning rod and bayonet as designed.
