Wheeler
The Wheeler 156999 Armorer's Wrench for AR-15 Rifles is a purpose-built multi-tool that handles the most common maintenance and assembly tasks on modern direct-impingement rifles. Built from hardened steel with a laminated construction designed to withstand the torque demands of serious AR work, this tool consolidates several single-purpose wrenches into one compact package. Whether you're installing a new barrel assembly, swapping buffer tubes, or timing a muzzle device, the Wheeler armorer's wrench gives you the profiles and leverage points needed without hunting through a toolbox.
The tool's innovative stamped and layered steel design is engineered to handle heavy torque loads, especially where barrel nut installation is concerned—the hardened steel pins are rated for the kind of force that separates quality tools from ones that round out or deflect under pressure. A ½" drive cutout lets you connect a torque wrench or ratchet driver, so you can dial in specs precisely or work faster depending on the job. This is the kind of detail that matters when you're working on an upper receiver: proper torque prevents failures in the field.
If you're building, rebuilding, or maintaining AR-15s with any regularity, a dedicated armorer's tool pays for itself quickly in time saved and mistakes avoided. The Wheeler delta series approach puts you in control of your rifle's assembly without the learning curve of improvised solutions or mall-ninja hacks.

Yes. The Wheeler armorer's wrench is designed for standard AR-15 assembly and maintenance, including barrel nut installation and buffer tube work. It includes profiles for buffer tube nuts and accommodates ¾" flash hiders.
Yes. The ½" drive cutout allows you to attach a standard torque wrench or ratchet driver, so you can precisely set barrel nut torque or work at your preferred speed.
The Wheeler 156999 is the armorer's wrench itself. It includes integrated profiles and cutouts for the features listed—you'll need to provide your own torque wrench or ratchet if you want to use the ½" drive cutout.
No. While gunsmiths rely on tools like this daily, any AR-15 builder or serious shooter who does their own maintenance will find it indispensable. It's designed to make upper receiver work safer, faster, and more precise than improvised methods.
