Underwood Ammo
The Underwood Ammo 9mm Luger +P Xtreme Defender is a premium self-defense round engineered for shooters who demand reliable stopping power in a compact 68-grain package. Built on nickel-plated brass casings, this ammunition delivers the corrosion resistance and reliable feeding you need whether you're carrying daily or training on the range. The nickel plating resists tarnish during storage and handles exposure to moisture and leather without degradation—a practical advantage over traditional brass if you're reloading or simply maintaining your stockpile over time.
The Xtreme Defender projectile uses radial flutes and a design focused on creating a permanent wound cavity significantly larger than conventional expanding bullets. The fluting channels hydraulic energy inward to build pressure, while the minimal surface area and sharp cutting edges concentrate force at the point of contact and help defeat intermediate barriers. This architecture prioritizes penetration and wound dynamics for self-defense scenarios where barrier performance matters.
Underwood loads this round with flash-suppressed powder, a thoughtful choice if you ever need to deploy your firearm in low light—preserving your night vision rather than compromising it with muzzle flash. The +P pressure rating delivers velocity and energy in a 9mm platform, though you'll want to verify your firearm's +P rating before use. Each box contains 20 rounds packaged as 10 rounds per box, making it easy to portion for training, carry, or storage.

Always verify that your firearm is rated for +P pressure rounds before use. Check your owner's manual or manufacturer's website. Standard 9mm firearms may not be rated for the higher pressures of +P ammunition. If you're unsure, contact your firearm's manufacturer or a qualified gunsmith.
Nickel plating provides superior corrosion resistance compared to traditional brass, resists tarnish during long-term storage, and won't discolor when exposed to moisture, leather, or other metals. This makes nickel cases easier to maintain and cleaner to reload if you're a handloader.
Flash-suppressed powder reduces the visible muzzle flash if you need to fire in low light, which helps preserve your night vision and maintains better situational awareness. This is particularly valuable for defensive use or tactical training in dimly lit environments.
The Xtreme Defender's radial flutes and minimal surface area design channel hydraulic energy inward and concentrate force at the point of contact, creating a larger permanent wound cavity than conventional expanding bullets. The sharp cutting edges are designed to defeat intermediate barriers as well.
