Ultradyne USA
The Ultradyne Mercury Comp 5/8x24 7.62 is a compact muzzle brake engineered to control recoil and muzzle rise on .308-class rifles. Built from 416 stainless steel with a salt bath nitride finish, this device manages the violent impulse of magnum rifle cartridges through a carefully ported design that lets you stay on target for faster, more accurate follow-up shots. It's purpose-built for shooters who want serious recoil management without the length penalty that larger brakes carry.
The Mercury uses progressive side porting—90 ports arranged in a pattern that bleeds combusting gases in stages rather than all at once. This graduated venting spreads the recoil impulse over a longer window, making felt recoil noticeably smoother and reducing the violent muzzle climb you'd get from a single-plane design. The result is a compact brake that doesn't sacrifice effectiveness, making it equally at home on a precision rifle, a hunting platform, or a short-barreled rifle build where real estate is limited.
Installation is straightforward: the included timing nut allows you to index the brake to your exact preferences and sight setup. The Mercury is also Dynamount-ready, so if you're already invested in Ultradyne's quick-detach ecosystem, this brake integrates seamlessly. The 416 stainless construction and nitride hardening mean it'll stand up to the corrosive byproducts of centerfire shooting and won't degrade under sustained use.
Whether you're shooting precision rifle at distance, hunting at altitude where follow-up accuracy matters, or running a dedicated .308 competition gun, the Mercury Comp delivers the recoil reduction and control that translates to better shooting.
| Thread Pattern | 5/8x24 |
| Caliber Compatibility | 7.62 (.308) |
| Material | 416 Stainless Steel |
| Finish | Salt Bath Nitride |
| Port Configuration | 90 progressive side ports |
| Included | Timing nut |
| Mount Style | Dynamount-ready, threaded |
The 5/8x24 thread pattern and 7.62 (.308) caliber designation indicate this brake is designed for rifles chambered in .308 Winchester and related cartridges with that muzzle thread pitch. Verify your rifle's exact thread pattern before purchase—a muzzle thread misfit is a hard stop.
Yes. The timing nut allows you to rotate the brake to the optimal index before locking it down, so you can align the ports for your specific setup and sight configuration. It comes in the box and is part of the installation process.
Yes. The Mercury is Dynamount-ready, meaning it's designed to work with Ultradyne's quick-detach Dynamount system if you choose to add compatible accessories.
Salt bath nitride is a hardened surface treatment that resists corrosion and wear. It's standard on quality rifle muzzle devices and will hold up to repeated shooting and exposure to the elements.
