The TriStar Viper Max 12-gauge semi-auto shotgun is a versatile, hard-working 3.5" magnum built for hunters and sport shooters who demand flexibility without compromise. Its gas-operated action uses a dual-piston system—swap between light and heavy load pistons depending on whether you're running target rounds or full-power waterfowl loads, with the secondary piston conveniently stored in the forearm. At 7.4 lbs with a 28" barrel and bronze/Mossy Oak finish, it balances manageability in the field with the ruggedness you need for serious hunting.

The Viper Max comes ready to go: chrome-lined chamber and barrel for durability, a ventilated rib with fiber optic sight for quick target acquisition, and four interchangeable Beretta/Benelli Mobil chokes (SK, IC, M, F) to dial in your pattern for any shot. The over-molded rubber grips on stock and forearm keep your hold solid in wet or cold conditions, while the engineered recoil pad and swivel studs round out a purpose-built platform. Magazine cut-off function lets you unload the chamber independently if needed, and the quick-release shot plug makes tuning your magazine capacity straightforward.

Whether you're working ducks at dawn, running clays on the weekend, or stocking a reliable house gun, the Viper Max handles it all without fuss. The safety is positioned on the back of the trigger guard and locks both the trigger hammer lever and hammer when engaged, keeping the firing mechanism completely immobile until you're ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I shoot light loads and heavy magnum loads in the same shotgun?

Yes. The Viper Max includes both a light-load and heavy-load piston. Use the light piston for 2.75" shells and target rounds; switch to the heavy piston for 3" and 3.5" magnum loads. The secondary piston stores in the forearm so you can swap them quickly in the field.

What chokes come with this shotgun?

The Viper Max includes four Beretta/Benelli Mobil chokes: Skeet (SK), Improved Cylinder (IC), Modified (M), and Full (F). They're designed to let you match your choke to your load and game without buying extras.

How do I remove the shot plug if I want to load the full 5-round magazine?

The shot plug comes pre-installed in the magazine. Unscrew the magazine cap from the bottom of the barrel, pull out the plug, and screw the cap back on. It's a simple, tool-free operation.

What's the magazine cut-off and how does it work?

The magazine cut-off is a button near the trigger guard that locks the lifter in place. When engaged, it lets you eject a shell from the chamber independently without cycling a fresh round from the magazine—useful for safely unloading or swapping ammunition types without dumping rounds.
