Traditions
The Traditions Frontier 1873 single action revolver in .357 Mag is a faithful recreation of the iconic American sidearm that defined the frontier era. Built on a steel frame with period-correct proportions, this six-shot revolver combines classic lines with practical safety innovations—all wrapped in a hand-finished case-hardened barrel and warm walnut grip. Whether you're a Cowboy Action shooter, historical reenactor, or someone drawn to the simplicity and reliability of single-action revolvers, the Frontier delivers authentic performance without compromise.
The 4.75-inch barrel strikes the balance that made the original design legendary: fast enough for close work, long enough for genuine accuracy at distance. The case-hardened finish gives each gun its own distinctive color palette—those rich blues, grays, and golds that can't be rushed or faked. Real walnut grips feel substantial in the hand and age beautifully with use. Traditions engineered this gun to work, not just look the part.
What sets the Frontier apart is its transfer bar safety system—a modern feature built invisibly into the frame that lets you carry all six chambers loaded safely. In a traditional 1873 design, you'd load five and keep the hammer on an empty chamber; the Frontier lets you trust the gun without that compromise. It's single-action throughout, meaning you manually cock the hammer for each shot, so training and deliberation become part of the rhythm.
This is a gun for people who value straightforward mechanics and honest craftsmanship. No polymer, no complicated internals, no unnecessary features—just steel, walnut, and the satisfying click of a properly tuned action.

.357 Magnum is a versatile revolver cartridge suitable for hunting, sport shooting, and self-defense. It fires at higher velocities than .38 Special and delivers more energy downrange. It's also commonly used in Cowboy Action Shooting sports.
The Frontier is an authentic reproduction of the 1873 single-action revolver. It features period-correct geometry, steel frame construction, and traditional single-action mechanics. The transfer bar safety is a safety-focused enhancement not found in the original design.
Case-hardening is historically accurate to many original 1873 revolvers and creates a distinctive color palette of blues, grays, and golds that develops uniquely on each gun. It's both authentic and visually striking.
