Taylors & Company
The Taylors & Company Smokewagon 44-40 revolver is a modern single-action sixgun built for shooters who want classic cowboy-gun handling with practical refinements for the range or trail. Chambered in .44-40 Winchester and wearing a 4.75" barrel, this is a full-size revolver that balances the heritage appeal of traditional stagecoach-style single-actions with ergonomic upgrades—a lower-sitting hammer and wider sights designed to speed target acquisition without losing that authentic look.
Built on Uberti's proven platform, the Smokewagon features a crisp blue finish paired with a case-hardened frame for durability and visual contrast. The checkered walnut grip is thin and detailed, designed to nestle comfortably in the hand while aiding control and sight picture. At 10.35" overall and weighing just 2.45 lbs, it's light enough for extended carry yet solid enough to inspire confidence. Fixed sights—a front blade and rear frame notch—keep the design simple and robust, exactly what you need in a single-action working gun.
Taylor's & Co. also offers this model in a Taylor Tuned variant, which goes deeper: custom hand-polished hammer and trigger springs, a three-pound trigger pull, and jig-cut positive angles on triggers and sears for a markedly smoother, more reliable action. If you shoot .44-40 and want a sixgun that honors the old designs while delivering modern refinement, the Smokewagon delivers both without compromise.
