Taylors & Company
The Taylors & Company 1875 No. 3 2nd Model Schofield .45 LC revolver brings classic American cavalry engineering to the modern shooter. Built on the proven design that armed U.S. mounted soldiers and frontier lawmen, this break-top revolver combines historical authenticity with practical shooting ergonomics. The top-break action was purpose-built for one-handed operation on horseback—a feature that made the Schofield famous among cavalry troopers, outlaws, and lawmen alike. If you're drawn to historical revolvers with genuine mechanical elegance and proven reliability, this Schofield delivers both.
What sets a Schofield apart is its quick-eject mechanism: open the action and all six spent cases fall free at once, making reload seamless whether you're at the range or in the saddle. The 7-inch barrel balances velocity and handling, and the walnut grips provide a classic feel that modern polymer can't match. The blue finish on the frame and barrel pairs with case-hardened trigger guard and trigger spur—traditional aesthetics that also provide durability. The lanyard ring adds another period-correct touch for those who appreciate the details.
This isn't a tactical gun; it's a piece of firearms heritage that still shoots straight. Shooters gravitating toward Cowboy Action competition, historical reenactment, or simply collecting functional classics will appreciate the engineering that kept this design in service for over a century. The .45 LC round offers modest recoil and proven stopping power at reasonable range—plenty for target work, plinking, and sport shooting.

Yes. The Taylors & Company Schofield .45 LC is built to Cowboy Action specifications and is widely used in that sport. Check with your local match for any specific revolver category rules, as some matches have dedicated Schofield or top-break divisions.
The revolver ships with walnut grips, lanyard ring, and blade front sight. We recommend sourcing .45 LC ammunition separately.
Push forward on the trigger guard lever to open the frame at the top. The barrel and cylinder pivot downward, and all six spent cases are automatically ejected. Close the action to chamber fresh rounds. It's fast, intuitive, and was designed to work one-handed from horseback.
The 1875 No. 3 2nd Model represents a refinement of the original design, with the hump-backed backstrap profile and case-hardened trigger guard. The specifics of your model are in the specs and features above; if you have detailed comparison questions, our team can help.
