Strike King
The Strike King KVD Shallow Square Bill is a 3/8oz shallow crankbait built for hunting fish in skinny water and around cover. Designed to Kevin VanDam's exacting specifications, this bait delivers the erratic, wandering action that separates productive casts from wasted ones. The squarebill design causes it to deflect off docks, grass, rocks, and timber—the kinds of contact points that trigger aggressive strikes from bass hunting near structure. Whether you're power-fishing a creek channel or targeting isolated cover, this shallow diver performs in the most common hunting scenarios.
What makes the KVD stand out is its approach to action and noise. Unlike crankbaits loaded with internal rattles, this model runs silent—a deliberate choice that keeps spooked fish committed. The bait hunts and wanders through the water column with a natural, erratic movement that looks more like a struggling baitfish than a wound-up toy. That wandering action, combined with the squarebill's deflection properties, makes it equally effective when you're grinding cover or fishing open shallow zones.
The Chartreuse Black Back finish is a proven shallow-water pattern that balances visibility and natural forage coloration. It's versatile enough for clear to moderately stained water and performs in various light conditions. At 3/8oz, the bait casts well and tracks true at its intended running depth, making it reliable for both new and experienced anglers.
