Strike Industries
The Strike Industries Latchless Charging Handle Assembly is a modern take on a fundamental AR-15 control that prioritizes reliability and shooter comfort over traditional design conventions. Built from forged 7075 aluminum, this charging handle eliminates the external latch found on standard mil-spec uppers, replacing it with an internal spring mechanism that works within your receiver's natural geometry. The result is a charging handle that's simpler to operate, less prone to snagging, and engineered to outlast conventional designs through reduced wear on receiver contact surfaces.
The latchless system works by leveraging the charging handle insertion channel already present in your upper receiver. Instead of relying on a protruding latch that bears force on a sharp 90-degree edge, this design uses a flat spring bearing surface that distributes stress across a much larger area—think of it as spreading impact over a wider footprint rather than concentrating it at a point. That means less accelerated wear on both your upper receiver and the handle itself over thousands of cycles. You also get the practical benefit of no external moving parts or sharp edges to catch on body armor, chest rigs, or brush when you're moving through cover.
The solid aluminum construction is paired with compatibility for Strike Industries ISO Tabs, an optional add-on that gives you more surface area to manipulate the handle when running large optics or shooting in gloves. This is a mil-spec AR-15 charging handle only and is not rated for suppressed fire, full-auto operation, or use on SBRs and pistol-length barrels. If you run a standard rifle-length or mid-length gas system and want a charging handle that's as bulletproof as it is unconventional, this is worth a serious look.
| Brand | Strike Industries |
| Material | Forged 7075 Aluminum |
| Type | Latchless Charging Handle Assembly |
| Compatibility | Mil-spec AR-15 (rifle- and mid-length gas systems) |
| Notes | Not rated for suppressors, full-auto fire, or SBRs/pistol-length barrels |
The Strike Latchless Charging Handle is designed for standard mil-spec AR-15 uppers only. It requires the standard charging handle insertion channel present on any mil-spec upper. It is not compatible with SBRs, pistol-length barrels, or uppers rated for full-auto or suppressed fire.
The latchless mechanism eliminates external moving parts and sharp edges that can snag on gear, body armor, or brush. Because the spring bearing surface is flat and much larger than a traditional latch contact point, it distributes force and wear more evenly across your upper receiver's charging handle channel. This results in a longer-lasting interface with less accelerated wear over time.
Yes. The solid aluminum construction provides a mounting point for optional Strike Industries ISO Tabs, which increase surface area for easier operation with large optics or when wearing gloves.
No. This charging handle is not rated for suppressed fire, full-auto operation, or use on short-barreled rifles or pistol-length barrel configurations. It is designed for standard rifle- or mid-length gas system AR-15s only.
