Strike Industries
The Strike Industries Latchless Charging Handle Assembly for AR-15 ditches the traditional external latch in favor of a cleaner, more durable design. Built from forged 7075 aluminum, this charging handle uses an internal spring mechanism that engages with the upper receiver's charging handle channel—eliminating the snag points and wear patterns that plague standard latches. If you're running a modern piston gun, modernized direct impingement build, or just want to reduce the number of external components that can catch on gear or break under hard use, this handle delivers the reliability and simplicity that serious shooters appreciate.
The design centers on a flat spring bearing surface that distributes force across a much larger area than a traditional ball-bearing latch. That larger contact patch means slower wear and longer service life—especially on the upper receiver itself, where the rounded channel profile resists the rapid degradation that the sharp 90-degree edge of a stock latch can cause. The side gas venting keeps things running clean, and the solid aluminum body provides a secure mounting platform for optional ISO Tabs if you're running larger optics or wearing heavy gloves and want extra purchase.
This is a mil-spec AR-15 part designed for standard-length and mid-length gas systems. Note that it's not rated for suppressor use, full-auto fire, or short-barreled rifle (SBR) applications with pistol-length barrels. If your build falls within those parameters, this is a straightforward, no-frills upgrade that removes a potential failure point and rough edge from your platform.
| Material | Forged 7075 Aluminum |
| Compatibility | Mil-spec AR-15 (standard and mid-length gas systems) |
| Latch Type | Latchless (hidden spring mechanism) |
| Not Rated For | Suppressors, full-auto fire, SBRs, pistol-length barrels |
Yes—it's designed for mil-spec AR-15 rifles with standard or mid-length gas systems. It will not function in SBRs or pistol-length barrel configurations, and is not rated for suppressed or fully automatic fire.
There's no external latch to break, wear prematurely, or snag on your gear or clothing. The internal spring mechanism uses the receiver's natural charging handle channel, which has a rounded profile that resists wear better than the sharp 90-degree edge where a traditional latch contacts the receiver.
Yes. The solid aluminum construction provides a mounting point for optional Strike Industries ISO Tabs, which increase surface area for large optics or for shooters wearing heavy gloves who need more grip real estate.
The handle features side gas venting to keep operation clean, helping reduce fouling and maintaining consistent performance during extended shooting sessions.
