The Sierra MatchKing 22 Cal 77gr HPBT bullets (.224 diameter) are precision rifle bullets engineered for competitive shooters and long-range precision work. Built on decades of Sierra's match-grade ammunition heritage, these .224 projectiles have earned their reputation on the competition line and at the range, delivering the consistency and accuracy that serious shooters demand. Whether you're handloading for service rifle competition, precision AR-15 applications, or high-accuracy target work, the 77-grain MatchKing offers a proven platform for sub-MOA performance.

What makes the 77-grain MatchKing distinctive is its ability to seat to an overall length that feeds reliably through standard M16 and AR-15 magazines—a practical advantage for shooters who demand match-grade accuracy without compromising magazine compatibility. The bullet's boattail hollow-point design minimizes air disturbance and delivers exceptional downrange ballistics across a wide velocity envelope. The notable ballistic coefficient performance (.372 at high velocities, stepping down to .343 at lower speeds) ensures stable, predictable flight characteristics from the muzzle all the way downrange.

Sierra's MatchKing bullets are purpose-built for precision and accuracy, not for hunting applications. Their design prioritizes consistency and ballistic stability over the expansion characteristics needed for game. While some reloaders use them for varmint shooting, dedicated varmint bullets like Sierra's Hornet Blitz or Varminter line will deliver more reliable expansion at equivalent velocities. For target shooting, competition, and precision rifle work, the 77-grain MatchKing remains a trusted choice among handloaders who refuse to compromise on accuracy.
