Sea Sense Marine
The Sea Sense Outboard Motor Lock secures your outboard to the transom with hardened steel construction and a design that deters opportunistic theft. If you keep your boat at a public ramp, marina, or trailer in your driveway, this lock addresses a real vulnerability: an unattended outboard is a target. The lock works by clamping over the wing-type screws that hold most outboards in place, making them inaccessible without removing the entire assembly. It's straightforward theft prevention for motors up to 40 horsepower.
Construction matters when salt and spray are involved. The brackets are EDC coated steel—built to resist corrosion in the marine environment. The included padlock threads inside the tube itself, which means an opportunist can't simply cut through exposed shackles. It's a practical layer of security that works without special tools or installation headaches.
Whether you fish local lakes, coastal estuaries, or run your boat at different access points, an unsecured outboard is low-hanging fruit for theft. This lock is a simple, affordable way to keep your motor attached to your boat instead of someone else's trailer.
| Motor Compatibility | Outboards with wing-type screws up to 40 HP |
| Bracket Material | EDC coated steel |
| Tube Material | Hardened steel |
| Lock Type | Padlock (included) |
| Lock Material | Marine grade brass |
The Sea Sense Outboard Motor Lock is designed for outboards with wing-type screws rated up to 40 horsepower. Check that your motor uses wing-type screws (the standard fasteners on most transom-mounted outboards). If you're unsure, verify your motor's mounting hardware before ordering.
The lock features a hardened steel tube that resists cutting, and the included marine grade brass padlock threads inside the tube itself rather than sitting exposed. This design makes it difficult to access with bolt cutters or pry bars—the goal is to make theft time-consuming enough that a thief moves on to an easier target.
The Sea Sense Outboard Motor Lock comes with the steel bracket assembly and the padlock ready to use. No additional hardware or tools are required beyond what you'd need to fasten it to your transom.
Yes. The EDC coated steel brackets are designed to withstand marine environments. The brass padlock also resists saltwater corrosion. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use to extend the life of all components.
