Southern Lure Baits
The Scum Frog Pro Series 5/8oz Red Pearl-Red/White is a topwater hollow body frog built to trigger strikes when standard soft plastics fall short. Designed by anglers who've spent years fine-tuning hollow body performance, this frog combines audible attraction with precision mechanics—a combination that works especially well in heavy vegetation, around lily pads, and over submerged timber where bass and pike hunt by sound and movement.
What sets the Pro Series apart is its engineering. A glass rattle chamber produces extra-loud underwater noise to call fish from cover, while the rattle itself hangs low on the hook shank—positioned to magnify sound without interfering with hooksets. The frog rides on a premium 4/0 Owner hook with an upturned point that increases your odds of solid penetration on the strike. A brass weight positioned in the body ensures the frog lands consistently on its belly and maintains balance through your retrieve, eliminating the dead-weight wobble that spooks selective fish.
The nose ring is a small detail with real payoff: it gives the frog more freedom to "walk the dog" side to side, a motion that mimics a struggling baitfish or frog and triggers reactive bites. The red pearl-red/white color combination is proven across multiple water conditions and works especially well in clear to moderately stained water where visibility favors realistic patterns.
At 5/8oz, this frog casts far enough to reach distant cover without requiring a heavy rod, making it accessible for anglers fishing standard bass and pike gear. Whether you're working a shallow swamp, punching through matted vegetation, or fishing early morning topwater sessions, the Scum Frog Pro Series delivers the noise, balance, and hookability needed to convert bites into landed fish.
| Weight | 5/8oz |
| Hook Size | 4/0 Owner |
| Hook Type | Frog hook with upturned point |
| Color Pattern | Red Pearl-Red/White |
| Body Style | Hollow body |
| Rattle Type | Glass |
| Weight Material | Brass |
The Pro Series excels in heavy vegetation, lily pad fields, matted surface growth, and around submerged timber. The loud rattle and topwater action make it effective in both clear and moderately stained water, with the red pearl-red/white pattern performing well across variable light conditions.
The 5/8oz weight is designed for standard bass and pike casting equipment. Your existing medium to medium-heavy power rod should handle it comfortably without requiring specialty gear.
The nose ring gives the frog freedom to move independently of a fixed attach point, allowing it to "walk the dog" more naturally side to side during your retrieve. This mimics the erratic motion of a wounded baitfish or struggling frog, triggering more reactive strikes.
Yes. The rattle is positioned on the lower hook shank, well away from the hook point, so it amplifies underwater noise without interfering with penetration when a fish strikes.
