Savage Arms
The Savage Impulse Mountain Hunter is a straight pull bolt action rifle engineered for hunters who cover serious terrain in pursuit of big game. Chambered in .300 WSM and built around a lightweight 24-inch Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel, this rifle delivers the accuracy and firepower needed for high-altitude hunts and long treks without the weight penalty. The gray synthetic stock and aluminum receiver keep things rugged and field-ready, while the threaded muzzle (5/8-24) supports a muzzle brake as standard—helping manage recoil and get back on target fast.
What sets the Impulse apart is its straight pull action. Unlike traditional bolt rifles, the forward and backward motion of the handle lets you stay behind the scope and on target between shots, crucial when adrenaline is pumping and follow-ups matter. The ambidextrous, removable multi-positional bolt handle suits both left and right-handed hunters and stows quickly if you need a cleaner profile in tight country. An integral 20 MOA rail on the aluminum receiver gives you plenty of mounting surface for optics without added accessories, while the threaded barrel is ready for a suppressor or brake setup tailored to your hunt.
Accuracy is built in. The user-adjustable AccuTrigger (1.5–4 lbs) breaks clean and consistent, and Savage's AccuStock technology with three-dimensional aluminum bedding ensures the barrel and action settle the same way every shot. AccuFit lets you dial in both length-of-pull and comb height to your frame and shooting position—no guessing, no shimming. A 2-position tang safety keeps your hand in a natural shooting grip, and sling swivel studs let you attach a carry solution for those long climbs to glassing points.
This is a rifle built for hunters who understand that lighter is better when elevation gain is part of the mission, but accuracy and reliability are non-negotiable.

The carbon fiber barrel and lightweight construction make it ideal for hunters who cover long distances on foot, while the straight pull action, accurate trigger, and factory muzzle brake support fast, confident shooting in the field.
The straight pull action moves forward and back (rather than up and then back), allowing you to work the bolt while keeping your cheek welded to the comb and your eye behind the scope. This design makes follow-up shots faster and helps you stay on target in high-stress hunting situations.
The rifle comes with a factory muzzle brake and an integral 20 MOA rail for mounting an optic. You'll need to add a scope or other sighting system before hunting or range use.
Yes. The AccuFit system lets you adjust both length-of-pull and comb height to match your frame and shooting position. The AccuTrigger is user-adjustable between 1.5 and 4 pounds, so you can dial in the break weight you prefer.
The rifle ships with the muzzle brake installed, a 2-position tang safety, sling swivel studs, and an integral 20 MOA rail for scope mounting. An optic mounting system is not included.
