The Savage Impulse Mountain Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor is a straight-pull bolt-action rifle engineered for serious hunters who cover hard miles at altitude. Built around Savage's innovative Impulse action, this rifle combines a lightweight carbon fiber barrel with modern ergonomics and modularity to deliver the speed and accuracy backcountry hunting demands. The 22-inch barrel with threaded muzzle (5/8-24) strikes a balance between velocity and packability, while the gray synthetic stock keeps weight down without sacrificing durability.

What sets the Impulse apart is its straight-pull action—faster to operate than traditional turn-bolt guns, and designed to let you stay on target during the adrenaline-charged moment when a trophy steps into range. The removable, ambidextrous bolt handle and aluminum receiver with integral 20 MOA rail give you flexibility for scope mounting and southpaw shooters. Savage's AccuFit system lets you adjust both length-of-pull and comb height to dial in your fit, while the AccuStock bedding and user-adjustable AccuTrigger (1.5–4 lbs) guarantee repeatable accuracy. The 2-position tang safety and sling swivel studs round out the practical details.

This is a purpose-built rifle for hunters who value performance over convention. The Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel sheds weight without compromise, and the synthetic stock won't soak up weather or humidity. Whether you're glassing a high basin or covering miles to reach the backcountry, the Impulse Mountain Hunter delivers the accuracy, speed, and reliability you need when it counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rifle suitable for long-range hunting?

Yes. The 6.5 Creedmoor is a proven long-range cartridge, and the Impulse's integral 20 MOA rail accommodates modern scopes for extended-distance work. The adjustable AccuTrigger and aluminum bedding support the accuracy you need for precision shooting.

Can I use a muzzle brake or suppressor with this rifle?

The barrel is threaded 5/8-24, so yes—you can install a muzzle brake (included standard) or a compatible suppressor. The muzzle is already fitted with a brake from the factory.

Does the stock fit different body types and shooting positions?

The AccuFit system lets you adjust both length-of-pull and comb height, so you can dial in the fit for your frame and shooting style. This customization is built into the stock.

What makes the straight-pull action useful for hunting?

A straight-pull design is faster to cycle than a traditional turn-bolt, allowing quicker follow-up shots without breaking your sight picture. In high-adrenaline hunting moments, that speed and target retention can be the difference between success and a missed opportunity.
