Redding Reloading Equipment
The Redding Competition Pro Carbide Die Set for .460 S&W Mag is purpose-built for reloaders running progressive presses who demand efficiency without compromise. This three-die set strips away unnecessary components to streamline your workflow on machines like the Dillon XL650 or similar progressive setups, letting you focus on what matters: consistent, match-grade ammunition. The .460 S&W Mag is a serious revolver cartridge, and serious reloaders need dies that can keep up—which is exactly what you're getting here.
The sizing die is where Redding's Competition Pro shines for high-volume work. Built from titanium carbide, it features a built-in decapping unit to remove spent primers in one efficient stroke. Titanium carbide dies run cooler and last longer than conventional steel, a real advantage when you're processing brass in quantity. The large radius at the case mouth—a hallmark of Redding's pro-series design—makes insertion smooth and fast on progressive equipment, cutting downtime and reducing operator fatigue.
What sets this kit apart is the separation of seating and crimping into distinct operations. The Competition Seating Die handles bullet seating only and includes micrometer adjustments for precision. This dedicated approach lets you dial in your seating depth without worrying about crimp interference, then move to the Profile Crimp die for a final, independent crimping pass. That two-step method produces superior crimp consistency—critical for magnum revolver cartridges where gas cutting and bullet pull are real concerns.
If you're serious about .460 S&W Mag reloading and you're already invested in a progressive press, this set eliminates the expander die and other extras that slow you down. You get carbide durability, purpose-built geometry, and the workflow efficiency that modern volume reloaders expect.
| Caliber | .460 S&W Mag |
| Die Type | Three-die set (sizing, seating, crimp) |
| Sizing Die Material | Titanium carbide |
| Seating Die Features | Micrometer adjustments |
| Intended Use | Progressive reloading machines |
| Brand | Redding |
Yes. The Competition Pro series is specifically designed for progressive reloading machines. The large radius case mouth geometry makes fast, reliable case feeding the norm on equipment like Dillon progressives, and the three-die configuration fits standard progressive shell plates for .460 S&W Mag.
You get three dies: a titanium carbide sizing die with integrated decapping unit, a Competition Seating Die with micrometer adjustments, and a Profile Crimp die. The set does not include an expander die.
Separating seating and crimping into two dedicated dies gives you better control over each function. Your seating die focuses purely on bullet depth, and your crimp die applies consistent crimp pressure without interference—resulting in more reliable, uniform ammunition, especially important for magnum revolver cartridges like the .460 S&W Mag.
Titanium carbide is harder and more wear-resistant than conventional steel. It runs cooler during high-volume reloading sessions, which extends die life and reduces maintenance. For progressive press work where speed and consistency matter, that durability advantage adds up quickly.
