Redding Reloading Equipment
The Redding Body Die for 6.5 PRC is a specialized reloading die designed to handle a specific—but common—problem: brass that gradually becomes harder to chamber after multiple firings and neck sizing cycles. Unlike full-length sizing dies that work the entire case, a body die resizes only the case body and bumps the shoulder back into proper position while leaving the case neck untouched. This targeted approach makes it ideal for precision reloaders who neck-size their 6.5 PRC brass and want to extend case life without introducing the runout or work associated with conventional full-length resizing.
Redding has been crafting body dies for benchrest and serious handloaders for years, though they weren't always catalog items. Now, offered as a companion to Redding's bushing-style neck sizing die sets, the body die is available for 6.5 PRC and other calibers. It's a simple tool—no internal parts, just straightforward functionality. If your fired brass is getting tight in the chamber after a dozen or more reloads, a body die can restore easy feeding without full-length sizing that might compromise the fit you've built into your neck-sized loads.
This is specialized equipment for the handloader who already owns a neck sizing die and wants maximum brass life and consistency. It's not a general-purpose die; it solves a precise problem for shooters running precision loads in bolt-action rifles.
| Caliber | 6.5 PRC |
| Type | Body Die |
| Brand | Redding |
| Intended Use | Resize case body only; companion to neck sizing dies |
A full-length die resizes the entire case. A body die resizes only the case body and bumps the shoulder back—it leaves the case neck completely alone. This preserves the neck work and fit you've developed with your neck sizing die, which is why body dies are favored by precision reloaders.
After repeated firing and neck sizing, cases gradually grow in the body and shoulders, making them increasingly difficult to chamber. A body die addresses this without requiring a switch to full-length sizing. If your 6.5 PRC brass is getting tight in the chamber after 10+ reloads, a body die can solve that.
No. The body die is designed as a companion die for use with brass that has already been neck-sized. It's not a standalone sizing solution.
