Redding Reloading Equipment
The Redding 6.5 PRC Type S neck die is a precision reloading die built for handloaders who demand tight control over case neck sizing and bullet tension. If you're stepping up from basic full-length sizing or working with premium match-grade brass, this bushing-style die lets you fine-tune neck diameter in 0.001" increments to match your exact specs and chamber. The self-centering bushing design promotes concentricity—critical for long-range accuracy—while the adjustable decapping rod gives you flexibility to resize only the portion of the neck you need.
What sets the Type S system apart is its modularity. Swap bushings to dial in the exact neck tension your loads demand, and you're not locked into one setup. The included standard decapping button handles most reloading workflows, but the supplied decapping pin retainer lets you neck-size without the button if you're sorting cases or turning necks for uniformity. This is especially handy if you're processing commercial brass as-is and want to minimize case work.
Redding's engineering here pays off in consistency. The bushing self-centers on the case neck, reducing runout that can dog your accuracy. The adjustable decapping rod positioning means you can customize your sizing stroke to your exact press and workflow. Whether you're loading for a precision hunting rifle, a competition platform, or a magnum that demands uniformity, this die gives you the control to build ammo that shoots tight groups.
| Product | Redding 6.5 PRC Type S Neck Die |
| Caliber | 6.5 PRC |
| Type | Bushing-style neck sizing die |
| Bushing Increments | 0.001" |
| Included Components | Die, standard decapping button, decapping pin retainer, adjustable decapping rod |
| Bushings | Not included; available separately |
Bushings are sold separately and available in 0.001" size increments. To find your starting point, measure the neck diameter of several loaded or dummy cartridges with an accurate micrometer, then subtract 0.001" from the smallest average measurement. This accounts for spring-back and creates proper bullet tension. If you don't have loaded rounds, you can borrow a set of dies or load dummy cartridges with an existing die to establish your baseline.
Yes. The adjustable decapping rod allows you to position the bushing to resize only a portion of the neck length if that's what your workflow or brass requires. This flexibility is especially useful if you're processing commercial brass and want to minimize sizing.
The die comes with a standard decapping button, a decapping pin retainer (which allows neck-sizing without the button), and an adjustable decapping rod. You'll need to purchase the correct-sized bushings separately based on your chamber and desired neck tension specs.
Yes. The self-centering bushing promotes concentricity, the precise 0.001" adjustment increments let you dial in exact neck tension, and the ability to resize uniformly makes it well-suited to match-grade and precision hunting reloading where runout and consistency matter.
