Rearden
The Rearden FHD Flash Hider in 1/2-36 with square shoulder and black nitride finish is a purpose-built muzzle device for shooters running suppressor-compatible AR platforms. Designed to work with Plan B type mounts and Rearden's Atlas/Atlas XL suppressor adapters, this flash hider serves as the foundation of a modular suppressed setup—handling flash reduction while providing a solid interface for your can. The updated design features larger wrench flats on the rear for easier installation and removal, and the black nitride finish delivers both durability and a tighter seal when properly torqued.
If you're building a suppressed rifle and need a flash hider that integrates seamlessly with modern quick-detach suppressor systems, the FHD gives you a no-frills, reliable mounting solution. The square shoulder design ensures proper indexing against the barrel, and the 17-4 PH H900 material construction means this device is built to handle the stresses of suppressed shooting. It's compatible with both standard Atlas and Atlas XL adapters, so you have flexibility in your suppressor choice down the road.
Proper installation is critical: torque the muzzle device to approximately 30 ft-lbs and secure it with Rockset to the barrel. Use an alignment rod during setup to verify the entire system runs true before mounting your suppressor. The nitride finish does create a tighter seal, which is good for performance but underscores the importance of getting the installation right. Keep in mind that shims are not included; you may need them for timing if your barrel lacks a thread relief.
| Thread Pitch | 1/2-36 |
| Shoulder Type | Square |
| Material | 17-4 PH H900 Stainless Steel |
| Finish | Black Nitride (67 HRC) |
| Mount Type | Plan B Compatible |
| Adapter Compatibility | Atlas and Atlas XL Adapters |
| Recommended Torque (Device to Barrel) | Approximately 30 ft-lbs |
The Rearden FHD is designed for Plan B type mounts and works with suppressors running Rearden's Atlas and Atlas XL adapters. Always verify your suppressor's compatibility with these adapters before purchasing.
Shims are not included. You may need shims if your barrel doesn't have a thread relief cut by the manufacturer and you want to time the flash hider to a specific rotational position. Shims must be purchased separately.
Torque the muzzle device to approximately 30 ft-lbs and secure it with Rockset. Use an alignment rod during installation to ensure the entire system is properly aligned before mounting your suppressor.
The black nitride finish provides a corrosion-resistant surface and creates a tighter seal when mated to your suppressor. This improved seal contributes to suppressor performance, but it also makes proper installation and torque even more critical.
