Real Avid
The Real Avid Bore Max Smart Rod is a 1-piece carbon fiber cleaning rod with 8x32 thread that brings genuine ergonomic thinking to gun maintenance. Instead of fighting with a traditional horizontal screwdriver-style grip that fatigues your wrist during extended cleaning sessions, this rod features a vertical comfort grip engineered specifically for the pushing-and-pulling motions that define real bore cleaning. If you've ever spent time running patches and brushes downrange, you know that grip matters—and this design proves it.
At the heart of the Smart Rod is a premium carbon fiber construction paired with an ultra-glide bearing that lets the rod rotate smoothly as it follows your bore's rifling. This bearing action reduces binding and lets you clean lands and grooves more effectively without fighting resistance. The 1-piece design keeps things simple and dependable—no segments to lose, no threaded connections to maintain or worry about under field conditions.
Real Avid includes a wall hanger storage bracket that cradles the handle and lets you hang the rod vertically when you're done. This prevents the rod from warping or developing the kinks and bends that can happen when cleaning rods get tossed in a drawer or left lying around. Proper storage isn't glamorous, but it extends the life of your gear and keeps your next cleaning session trouble-free. The 8x32 thread compatibility covers most modern rifle and pistol cleaning jags and brushes, making this a practical addition to any gun owner's maintenance toolkit.
Whether you're a serious rifleman who cleans after every range trip or a hunter who takes bore maintenance seriously, the Bore Max Smart Rod trades marketing hype for real improvements in comfort, function, and durability.
| Material | Carbon Fiber |
| Configuration | 1-Piece |
| Thread Size | 8x32 |
| Grip Type | Vertical Comfort Grip |
| Included Accessories | Wall Hanger Storage Bracket |
The 8x32 thread is a standard size that fits most modern rifle and pistol jags and brushes. If you're unsure whether a specific cleaning tool in your kit will fit, check its thread specification before ordering.
The bearing allows the rod to rotate smoothly as it moves through the bore, following the rifling without binding or resistance. This reduces friction and helps you clean lands and grooves more effectively with less effort.
Storing the rod horizontally or loosely coiled can cause permanent bends and deformation over time. The included wall hanger bracket cradles the handle and keeps the rod hanging vertically, which prevents these kinks and extends the life of your rod.
Most cleaning rods use a horizontal screwdriver-style grip designed for tuning, not the pushing-and-pulling motions of actual bore cleaning. The Bore Max Smart Rod's vertical grip reduces wrist fatigue and hand strain during extended cleaning sessions by aligning with your natural cleaning motion.
