RCBS
When you're serious about handload precision, measuring case neck thickness isn't optional—it's foundational to consistent, safe ammunition. The RCBS Vernier Ball Micrometer is a dedicated tool for reloaders who need accurate neck measurements without the trial-and-error of guesswork. Built with a full all-metal body and thimble finished in a durable matte, this micrometer delivers the kind of reliability you expect from RCBS, whether you're working with a single press or managing a high-volume loading bench.
The 0–1 inch measuring range covers the vast majority of rifle and handgun case necks you'll encounter in practical reloading. With accuracy within 0.0001 inch, you're reading neck thickness to the ten-thousandth—the precision required to spot variations that affect bullet seating pressure and overall cartridge consistency. The ratchet stop on the thimble prevents you from over-tightening and damaging cases or the tool itself, while the thimble lock holds your reading steady so you won't accidentally rotate the measurement away before you've recorded it.
Setup and use are straightforward: the included adjustment wrench lets you zero or recalibrate the tool to your standard, and the storage case protects your investment between sessions. For reloaders who understand that case prep separates mediocre ammunition from reliable, accurate rounds, this ball micrometer is a no-nonsense addition to your bench.
| Measuring Range | 0–1 inch |
| Accuracy | ±0.0001 inch |
| Body Material | All-metal with matte finish |
| Features | Ratchet stop, thimble lock |
| Included Accessories | Adjustment wrench, storage case |
The 0–1 inch range covers standard rifle and handgun case necks. If your reloading cartridges fall within typical bore sizes (.22 to .45 and beyond), this tool will measure them.
Accuracy is within 0.0001 inch, giving you ten-thousandth-inch precision—more than enough to detect neck thickness variation that impacts load consistency.
The micrometer comes with an adjustment wrench for zeroing and calibration, plus a storage case to protect the tool when not in use.
Yes. The ratchet stop limits how much tightening force you can apply, preventing you from crushing case necks or over-tightening the micrometer itself.
