Hornady
Precision reloading demands precision tools, and the Hornady Standard Micrometer is built to deliver the repeatability that separates good handloads from great ones. Whether you're sorting cast bullets, verifying factory projectile dimensions, or checking machined components, this micrometer measures up to 1 inch with 0.0001-inch resolution—tight enough to catch the inconsistencies that can affect accuracy and reliability downrange. The ratchet-stop mechanism is the detail that matters: it applies consistent, uniform pressure every time you take a measurement, so your readings are repeatable and trustworthy across dozens of rounds.
Built for the long haul, the Hornady features a robust C-frame design and a baked-enamel finish that stands up to years of bench work. The spindle lock lets you hold your measurement while you record it or compare it to your notes, eliminating the fumble of trying to read the scale while still gripping the tool. It ships in a protective hard case, so your investment stays calibrated and protected in your reloading setup.
This is a straightforward, no-nonsense measurement tool for reloaders who take their craft seriously—the kind of precision instrument that becomes an indispensable part of your quality-control routine.
| Measurement Range | Up to 1 inch |
| Resolution | 0.0001 inch |
| Frame Design | C-frame |
| Finish | Baked-enamel coating |
| Included Accessories | Protective hard case |
A precision micrometer like the Hornady is essential for quality control in handloading. Use it to verify bullet diameters, check neck measurements on reloaded cases, or measure machined components. Consistent measurements help you spot ammunition batches or components that fall outside your specifications before they go downrange.
It measures in 0.0001-inch increments across its 1-inch range, which is more than sufficient for reloading and general machining work. The ratchet-stop mechanism ensures that you apply the same pressure every time, making measurements reproducible and reliable.
The ratchet-stop applies uniform, consistent pressure to the object you're measuring, preventing over-tightening and ensuring repeatable results. Once you have your measurement, the spindle lock holds it in place, so you can remove the micrometer and read the scale without disturbing your reading.
The Hornady Standard Micrometer ships with a protective hard case for safe storage and transport, keeping your precision tool calibrated and ready for the bench.
