RCBS
The RCBS Carbide Taper Crimp 3-Die Set for .38 S&W is a straightforward, efficient solution for handgun reloaders who want to streamline their prep work without sacrificing precision. Built around carbide sizing dies, this set eliminates the need to tumble and clean cases before processing—a real time-saver when you're loading high volumes of straight-walled pistol brass. Whether you're a competitive shooter going through dozens of rounds or a hunter zeroing loads for hunting season, this three-die configuration handles the essential steps: sizing and decapping, expanding and belling the case mouth, and seating and crimping the finished round.
Carbide dies are the workhorse choice for handgun reloading. Unlike steel dies, carbide won't scratch or stick to brass, and the hard surface resists wear, so your die setup stays consistent through thousands of rounds. For .38 S&W shooters—whether you're loading lead or jacketed bullets into vintage revolvers or modern reproductions—the taper crimp system ensures proper bullet seating depth and a secure, uniform crimp without over-working the case neck.
This Group E set is purpose-built for straight-walled cartridges like .38 S&W, so you know the die geometry and dimensions are optimized for your caliber. If you're new to reloading or returning to the bench after a break, RCBS dies are industry-standard for good reason: they're reliable, well-engineered, and backed by one of reloading's most trusted names.
| Caliber | .38 S&W |
| Cartridge Type | Straight-walled |

No. The carbide sizing die is designed to work with dirty brass, eliminating the time-consuming tumbling step. This is one of the main advantages of carbide dies for high-volume handgun reloading.
Yes. This die set is sized for .38 S&W, a straight-walled cartridge. Confirm your firearm uses .38 S&W (not .38 Special or another similar cartridge) before ordering.
The set includes three dies: a sizer die with decapping unit, an expander die, and a seater die with taper crimp.
Taper crimp is ideal for semi-automatic pistols and revolvers designed for it. It provides a secure hold without the aggressive deformation of a roll crimp, helping to extend case life.
