The RCBS 90379 Carbide Primer Pocket Uniformer is a small, multi-caliber metal tool designed to true primer pockets during case prep. If you reload rifle or pistol ammunition and want tighter consistency in your finished rounds, this tool addresses a real issue: factory primer pockets vary in depth and wall geometry, and that inconsistency can affect seating pressure and ignition. The carbide cutter on this uniformer removes material to establish a uniform pocket across your brass—one of the most overlooked steps in precision case preparation.

Primer pocket uniformity matters most to shooters chasing repeatable accuracy at distance or those loading for competition. Once you start using one, you'll notice tighter velocity spreads and more predictable bullet seating force—small improvements that compound across a batch of cases. The carbide construction means the cutter holds its edge through hundreds of cases, which justifies the investment if you're processing large volumes.

This is a hand tool; you'll use it in a press or with a hand-turning motion. It's sized for small primer pockets, so confirm your cartridge before ordering. Like all case prep tools, it's one part of a larger sequence: cleaning, inspection, deburring, trimming, and uniforming are all separate operations. RCBS has built its reputation on tools that encourage that methodical approach to handloading.
