The Proof Research Carbon Fiber Barrel Blank in .338 Caliber Sendero profile is engineered for shooters and gunsmiths who refuse to compromise on weight, durability, or long-range accuracy. This .338 barrel blank arrives unthreaded and unchambered, ready for your gunsmith to finish to your exact specifications. Built around a carbon fiber construction with a 1:9.4" twist rate and 5-groove rifling, it delivers the precision required for extreme-distance hunting and competitive long-range shooting.
Carbon fiber barrels have earned their reputation for exceptional strength-to-weight ratio—PROOF Research's design sheds up to 64% of the mass you'd carry with a traditional steel barrel without sacrificing the rigidity needed for match-grade accuracy. The Sendero profile strikes a practical balance between a lightweight hunting barrel and the thermal stability serious shooters demand. Reduced harmonic vibration and improved heat dissipation mean your point of impact stays true during sustained fire and back-to-back shots, a critical advantage whether you're testing loads at the range or taking follow-up opportunities in the field.
Carbon fiber's resistance to weather, nicks, dings, and corrosion makes it an ideal choice for hunting in harsh conditions or for hunters who want a barrel that will look and perform like new after years in the field. The 1:9.4" twist is optimized for the .338 cartridge's typical bullet weights and velocities. Because this is a blank, you'll work with a qualified gunsmith to thread the muzzle, chamber the rifle, and headspace everything to your firearm and handload specifications.
| Caliber | .338 |
| Profile | Sendero |
| Twist Rate | 1:9.4" |
| Rifling | 5-Groove |

This barrel arrives unthreaded and unchambered. Your gunsmith will thread the muzzle, chamber it to your desired .338 specification, and headspace everything to your bolt-action receiver. Bring this blank to a qualified gunsmith familiar with custom rifle builds.
Carbon fiber barrels from PROOF Research are designed to shed up to 64% of the weight of traditional steel barrels of the same profile and length, making them ideal for hunters and shooters who carry their rifles long distances.
Yes. PROOF Research barrels are manufactured to match-grade accuracy standards. The reduced harmonic vibration and improved heat dissipation help maintain consistent point of impact, even during high-volume shooting sessions or follow-up shots in the field.
Carbon fiber is highly resistant to corrosion, weather damage, nicks, dings, and scratches—an advantage if you hunt in wet, rocky, or remote terrain where a traditional steel barrel would show wear and risk rust.
